Orley Garber, Founder and President

Orley always wanted to be a teacher. She began her career in England, teaching Kindergarten and music. As she approached her thirties, she decided to move across the pond to Los Angeles, where she completed her Masters degree in Jewish Education. Years of teaching in local Jewish day schools followed, along with a Ph.D. in Education and Jewish Studies from NYU. Then, in 2012, her life changed. She became a mom, and decided to stay home. She imagined that her daughter, Maxie, would spend her school years in a Jewish day school. Very quickly, it became apparent that Maxie needed a path that was less conventional. Since then, Orley has discovered a rich, diverse life beyond her immediate “bubble.” She is now completing her California credential in special education, and has a second baby: Builder Bees.
